Did Obama cancel visit with wounded troops?

After Obama returned from his vacation ( or world campaign trip? )
A Republican Campaign TV Ad on Saturday, July 26th, 2008 states:

"He made time to go to the gym, but canceled a visit with wounded troops. Seems the Pentagon wouldn’t allow him to bring cameras."


That Obama visited a Berlin gym is not in dispute.

After the Pentagon raised a number of issues about its policy against campaign activity at a military base — including any media coverage or speeches, Obama did cancel his visit to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany .

“Nobody denied Sen. Obama the opportunity to visit our wounded being cared for at Landstuhl. Obviously as a sitting senator he has an interest in that and can certainly visit in an official capacity,” said Bryan Whitman, spokesman for the Pentagon.
